Challenge: To mark ten years of the Underdogs Public Art Programme, the platform wanted to produce a book that documented and reflected on a decade of art interventions in Lisbon. The publication needed to do justice to a programme of significant scale and diversity, bringing together the work of dozens of Portuguese and international artists across a wide range of media, formats and urban contexts.
Solution: We were responsible for the editorial design and image editing of “The City in Dialogue”, a 168-page hardback published in 2023 in Portuguese and English. The book traces the programme from its first commission in 2013 to the present day, documenting how urban art has shaped Lisbon’s public spaces and its relationship with the city’s inhabitants. The design serves the richness of the programme without overpowering it, giving space to the images and the diversity of artistic voices that define this decade of work.
